but thats not quite the point... Guild Wars was never meant to keep you hooked, just keep you coming back when you were bored of playing other short things like FPS's, RTS's, etc... and for casual gaming for those with real lives

I had rather they release stuff for GW1 as I will not be getting GW2 since they have shown that they will do whatever they can to nerf farming at all costs and PvP nerfs will ruin skills that are fine in PvE (yes you have to balance PvP...... do so with closed deck of skills or make 2 sets of all skills with the first set PvE never changing and used as intended then the second set for PvP that they can nerf to hell) Farming nerf makes PvE no fun to me and the lack of people to play with make PvP no good so something new or fixes to current game are needed to make me consider buying GW2 mostly farming fixes so I can make $$$$

if they release an expansion then shorley theyve spent precious time making it. I think an expansion would take more than 3 months extra. the time they spent making the expansiuon they could of been makin gw2

i dont mind really though. a new expansion aswell.. why not more stuff

Personally, I would prefer that they delay GW2 as long as needed to keep injecting a little life into GW every month or two. Dont read that as saying I feel GW is dead or dying - far from it. Its just without creative additions and/or fixes for the next year+, its likely to get quite stale and interest may fade a little, which may take some momentum away from GW2 whenever that may come out. I'm more likely to roll on into buying and playing GW2 if I am still playing GW.

I dont mean another expansion per se, though for me that is ideal. I've thought for some time now the GW2 announcement was too soon. Beta and its eventual release should not have been too terribly far away from the last expansion. I dont think its beyond the call of duty to add some new surprises here and there (things like IDS, some new quests, Sorrow's Furnace even), add a couple features, maybe a new PvP mode (sealed deck), some new AB maps (its been left as is forever, same for most PvP), graphical fixes as related to characters, stylist.

Of course, I dont hold my breath for this. It would have been ideal I think had one team continued to make a new expansion now, while GW2 was developed. They could introduce a number of these things in addition to new content on their own terms, with GW2 beta then not terribly far away from the last chapter having been released. I dont know how they'd do it now. Just wish they would and could.

I've "retired" three times before. Once I thought permanently. Each time it was some months after a given new chapter was out. For me, the gaps between new things, updates and major events was just too long. I have been wrong though. Despite certainty I would not come back, I'm back and playing again and loving it. Just hope it lasts. A year is an awful long time.

I couldn't care less about GW2 right now - ANet can take their sweet time. GW1 still has plenty to keep me going and if they want to sell me more expansion products I'll happily put my money where my mouse is.

2008: Guild Wars: Shiro Revenge (expanding Factions map as EotN expanded Tyria)

2009: Guild Wars: Dark Side of Mhenlo (expanding Nightfall map)

2010: Guild Wars 2

2011: Guild Wars 2: Factions

2012: Guild Wars 2: Nightfall

That is the only way to maintain all players playing forever, IMO.

Nah - the people that should be humble will be just gone by that time.

Ok, I am not sure how anyone can lack for things to do in GW1. There are 10 character classes, and 33 character based titles (330 then with 10 characters). Opening every primary skill (including elites somewhat already counted in character based titles) comes to 4,915 most of which have to be paid for. And that does not count skills being opened in secondaries (since PvE must purchase each skill multitple times, unlike PvP). Drunkard title could cost as much as 666,800g if you purchase all your ale and don't use exploits. Treasure Hunter is about 6,000,000g, without discounts. There are the Elite Weapons and Armors to get, there is another 100k per character in insignias, runes, materials, crafting, etc.

The bad part is GW has become a game centered up and based entirely upon Grind - the thing is is not supposed to be about. (And if I really liked farming there are thousands of achers all around me to do it on! I hate farming, and I hate being set up so that I can't achieve anything without doing it constantly.)

So, if you are really playing the game - even just PvE, then you have plenty to do. Farm for life.

I don't care when GW2 is released as long as Anet takes the time they need to do the best job they can at it. I don't need them to give more GW1 content but I wouldn't object to it (so long as GW2 doesn't suffer for it).

However, given the amount of negative feedback GWEN got, and all the dev interviews where they said they'd be pouring themselves into GW2 as soon as GWEN was done, I thing GW2 is where Anet's heart is at the moment. So I highly doubt that another expansion will be released. People that are hungry for new stuff to do can play the GW2 beta soon enough.

1.5 - New features, areas, and items in a sum that totals free.

A different game of a different (and inferior, IMO) genre built to satisfy different people isn't a very satisfying prospect, honestly. Not that I expect to see any more releases for the original game, but I do suspect that my Guild Wars experience will end when the game makes the leap to MMORPG in GW2.

Think the player base from a large country like china will keep GW going well after or if we move to GW2.

So you are going to stay with them while we are enjoying our GW2?

>>> Gaile Gray Talk Sunday October 21, 2007 "Main focus is now the development of Guild Wars 2, and they don't want to delay this game because of feature development for Guild Wars." LOL
Do you need to think about another option?

‘Delayed for 3 months’ option is the best for me. Even though I have played GW1 almost every day for more than a year now, I’m not done with it yet. Also, the less changes to GW1 the better. I like it as it is. I just wish they’d stop nerfing things. More time with no nerfing - That’s all I’d need to keep me happy.

I love how everyone just *knows* that they will enjoy/hate the game when we still know practically zilch about it.

I've mentioned this before, but MMORPG sequels have a very uphill battle. They may eventually obtain some modicum of success, become profitable, and maintain themselves; but any have yet to prove as wildly successful as the originals. Who knows, maybe GW2 could be the first to break this trend, though I doubt it.

Personally, I don't expect GW2 to be a failure along the lines of AC2(which did so poorly it's one of the few MMORPGs to permanently shut down in a matter of years), but I honestly would be surprised to see it do much better than EQ2 did in comparison to the original EQ. Even marketing it as a "parallel universe" as opposed to a true sequel didn't help convince people to migrate(which is the crux of the problem with MMORPG sequels), and it only became moderately successful after a few years of tweaking and SOE sinking money into the project.
